Walking 1000 km for Melanoma Institute Australia
Story
On Sunday the 4th of August, I will be heading out from Kalamunda to walk 1000km along the Bibbulmun Track, for 56 days, hopefully arriving in Albany on the 28th September.
The reasons for doing this are multifactorial.
Firstly and selfishly, I like a challenge. And this will challenge me physically and emotionally and it is something I have wanted to do for a long time.
Secondly, I want to highlight the the amazing job done by Melanoma Institute Australia.
And thirdly, whilst nothing compares with getting a diagnoses of cancer, I feel like there is a correlation between what I am doing and the highs and lows of treatment. A friend passed away from metastatic melanoma and my husband is lucky enough to be a survivor.
I want to raise at least $1 per km from my journey to go toward Melanoma Institute Australia. I want to raise awareness re prevention. And I want to provide hope.
I’ve created this fundraising page to help Melanoma Institute Australia reach zero deaths from melanoma.
With your help, the funds raised will support MIA’s world-class research, treatment, and education programs to save lives from melanoma. Melanoma research is also underpinning treatment for other cancers, including brain cancer.
Click ‘Donate’ to make a secure online donation. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
Thank you for your support!
