Ironman 70.3 for Melanoma research
Story
Hi there!
In June I will be doing the Cairns Ironman 70.3- this is a personal challenge I have wanted to do for years and I finally decided to make it happen. Am I crazy? Quite possibly :) BUT...
I thought this might be a great opportunity to try and raise some money for a cause close to my heart- melanoma research. As a nurse working in the specialty of Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery, I have seen first hand, time and time again the destruction and devastation melanoma can cause. I am also sure that you know, or know of someone who has been directly affected by melanoma- you don't have to work in a hospital to know how devastating it can be.
So while I am swimming, riding and running I will have in the forefront of my mind those affected by melanoma, and how even raising a little bit of money towards research can help the Melanoma Institute of Australia achieve their goal which is ZERO DEATHS FROM MELANOMA.
Australia has the highest rates of melanoma in the world.
Melanoma is the most common cancer affecting 20 to 39-year-old Australians and one Australian is diagnosed with the disease every 30 minutes. It is estimated 1300 Australians will die from melanoma this year.
With your help, the funds we raise will support MIA’s world-class research, treatment, and education programs to save lives from melanoma.

Thank you for your support!
