Hi there. My name's Stephen.

I will be cycling from Edinburgh to London, via Lockerbie, the Lakes District, Manchester, Nottingham, Coventry, and Aldbourne, covering around 900 km over the period of two weeks. I start out in front of Edinburgh Castle on the 5th of June and plan to arrive at the front of Buckingham Palace on the 17th. Along the way, I plan to film my ride. In early 2023, I had a mole cut out of my scalp. Results came back indicating the beginnings of a melanoma. A couple of months later, I underwent day surgery to have more of it cut out. Since then, I've had two skin checks and thankfully everything came back clear. After experiencing this, I decided to do my next bicycle ride, fundraising to help Melanoma Institute Australia reach zero deaths from melanoma.
Australia has the highest rates of melanoma in the world. Melanoma is the most common cancer affecting 20 to 39-year-old Australians and one Australian is diagnosed with the disease every 30 minutes. It is estimated 1300 Australians will die from melanoma this year.
 

With your help, the funds we raise will support MIA’s world-class research, treatment, and education programs to save lives from melanoma. Melanoma research is also underpinning treatment for other cancers, including brain cancer.
